 The history
The Impresa Meccanica Villasantese was founded right after the II World War by a mechanics fan from whom it took its name: I.M.V. GALLI ALFREDO.
The founder, after splitting from his brother with whom shared his first mechanical experiences, was joined after a few years by his sons, who gave him a strong support in organization and marketing matters in order to make the best out of the reconstruction process of the post-war years.
The company grew to a pretty good size, especially during the "boom" years, and created an
internal organization, increased the production equipment and started looking to markets abroad.
The major growth of the automobile market of those years gave I.M.V. the opportunity of
investing in the production of hot forming presses - even of large size and capacity -
and forming presses with highly advanced technical solutions that sometimes seemed to be
ahead of time. This happened for the DFCL presses, made in the '60s and '70s, that featured
connecting rods with a "plunger", which today is considered to be the strong point of the
precision pressers.
At the end of the '70s a new factory was opened in order to match the extra room required
by the increased production, due to the growth of the sheet forming and blanking markets.
I.M.V. became a leader in different fields: from pots and pans to household
appliances, from furniture to car components and to metal powder sintering.
The presses applications increase more and more.
The shareholders' commitment and the direct participation of the owner's family, made
it a solid and competitive company that negotiated the natural selection caused by the
difficult times of economical crisis that occurred both on domestic and international markets.
The '80s have been years of strong modernization: electronics changed forever the concepts
of presses designing, production and use. I.M.V. GALLI ALFREDO invested a great deal in
technology and people in order to deal with this new challenge at its best, with a major
improvement in products quality and performance. At the same time, our company contributed
to the market globalization by exporting its presses all over the world and by establishing
steady business relations with France, Israel and Spain.
In 1998 a generation change occurred; our small-size company became a joint-stock company
and changed its name and trademark. Thanks to its 60 years of history I.M.V. GALLI s.r.l.
will make the most of the acquired and handed-down tradition, as well as the new industrial
and organization ideas.
